So, I'm completely addicted to running and am fast approaching my first marathon. Which should have been London but as I didn't get a ballot place I had to find an alternative venue for my first foray into the marathon world. Now as it is my first attempt at 26.2 it would be sensible to pick a race that was at least on the flat or maybe even slightly down hill?
So with that in mind somehow I have signed myself up for the Windermere marathon which has been described to me as undulating, this at the time did not concern me my weekly runs have ups and downs and are fine enjoyable even! What I didn't take into account was it was a fell runner who described it as undulating! Having driven around part of the course I think "undulating" has just been nominated for the understatement of the year award!
I'm now just focusing on the positives of which there are many.
A very scenic marathon so when all esle fails I can look at the stunning views.
There are only about 1500 other runners.
There is a family funday so the family has something to do while I'm out indulging myself.
But most of all it feels like a real challenge which at this point I might complete or not and tht really motivates me.
So bring it on I can't wait!
